What happens

Bart Simpson first appears in a close-up, smirking with half-lidded eyes, before the scene shifts to Snowball II, the black cat, standing on a checkered kitchen floor beside a red stool and then dressed in a polka-dot outfit, sneakers and flowers on its head while holding a red umbrella. The family then sits at a blue-draped dinner table: Homer at left, Marge with her tall blue beehive, Maggie in a high chair, and Bart and Lisa, who waves a spoon and kicks her leg. Flames shoot out near Homer and a box or toaster in the middle of the table sends up dark smoke as the family reacts with wide eyes and open mouths.
