What happens

No characters appear in this sequence, which is an establishing pan across Springfield. The scene starts over the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, with its two grey cooling towers bearing atom symbols and a yellow banner reading "Welcome to Springfield Nuclear Power Plant" in the foreground. The view then moves across rows of pink, orange and yellow buildings, a large brick building with a "Springfield" sign, and green hills dotted with houses. It settles on the front of Springfield Elementary School, with a flagpole, a traffic light and a striped awning, before tilting down to the school's double glass doors with the sign "Springfield Elementary School" above them. The final moment shows the orange and blue side walls of the building next to a purple window revealing an empty classroom with a chalkboard and desks.
