What happens

Lisa, in a red dress with a pearl necklace, sits at the left of a blue-draped kitchen table while Homer, bald and in a white shirt, reads a sheet of paper and Bart, with spiky hair and an orange shirt, sits at the right. Bart gestures and talks while Homer holds up the paper, then Santa's Little Helper, the brown greyhound, and Snowball II, the black cat, appear balanced on striped balls in the kitchen. By the end the pets are gone and Homer sits slumped over the table, with the newspaper and a window showing a green tree behind him.
