What happens

A black screen shows opening credits in gold lettering with no Simpsons characters visible. First, 'Executive Producer DAVID MIRKIN' appears, then it switches to 'Executive Producers JAMES L. BROOKS, MATT GROENING, SAM SIMON'. The text fades to black, and a faint, unreadable line of credit text appears briefly before the screen goes dark again. Then 'JULIE KAVNER' appears, followed by 'NANCY CARTWRIGHT' in the same gold type, with no characters or locations shown.
