  1. 0:05 Kقققق Oh, Simpsons.
  2. 0:12 Don't!
  3. 0:13 Whoa!
  4. 0:27 Well...
  5. 0:30 You know, most of my life, I've had to live with the shame of being a screw-up.
  6. 0:35 But now as I stand here with the award for the district's safest bus driver,
  7. 0:41 well, it's like a dream come true.
  8. 0:43 Addo, wake up! Huh? Ah!
  9. 1:01 So, um, who's good at keeping secrets?
  10. 1:05 Dear parents, due to yesterday's unscheduled field trip to the auto-wrecking yard,
  11. 1:10 the school bus will be out of commission for two weeks.
  12. 1:13 By reading this letter out loud,
  13. 1:15 you have waived any legal responsibility on our part in perpetuity throughout the
  14. 1:20 universe.
  15. 1:23 Well, we'll have to organize a carpool.
  16. 1:25 Hey, every day will be like a road trip with your dad.
  17. 1:30 to school!
  18. 1:35 So, how about those rainbow suspenders, huh?
  19. 1:39 Dad.
  20. 1:40 Pretty cool way to keep your pants up, eh?
  21. 1:43 Dad.
  22. 1:44 I see these kids now with jive printed on their shirts.
  23. 1:47 Now I can teach you how you're supposed to say jive.
  24. 1:51 Dad, please just drive the car, Dad. I'm watching the road, sweetie.
  25. 1:55 You jive, turkey. See?
  26. 1:57 You got to sass it. Quit shivin' me, turkey.
  27. 2:02 You got to sass it.
  28. 2:04 A turkey is a bad person.
  29. 2:07 KFSL. Fossil 103.
  30. 2:09 Classic hits from Abba to Zeppelin, comma, land.
  31. 2:18 Tell him!
  32. 2:20 Mr. Simpson, sir! Can you please change the radio station?
  33. 2:25 But this is Grand Funk Railroad.
  34. 2:28 You guys back there know Grand Funk, right?
  35. 2:34 Nobody knows the band Grand Funk.
  36. 2:36 The wild shirtless lyrics of Mark Farner.
  37. 2:40 The bong-rattling bass of Mel Shocker.
  38. 2:43 The competent drum work of Don Brewer.
  39. 2:46 Oh, man.
  40. 2:49 For more information on Grand Funk, consult your school library.
  41. 3:05 Mississippi Queen!
  42. 3:06 And when I listen to a really good song,
  43. 3:08 I start nodding my head like I'm singing yes to every beat.
  44. 3:12 Yes, yes, yes, this rocks. And then sometimes I switch it up like, no, no,
  45. 3:17 no, don't stop her rocking. Dad, please, you're embarrassing us.
  46. 3:22 No, I'm not. I'm teaching you about rock music.
  47. 3:26 Now, Grand Funk Railroad paved the way for Jefferson Airplane,
  48. 3:29 which cleared the way for Jefferson Starship.
  49. 3:31 The stage was now set for the Alan Parsons Project,
  50. 3:34 which I believe was some sort of hovercraft.
  51. 3:36 Dad, no one cares about any of your stupid dinosaur bands.
  52. 3:39 You have the worst, lamest taste in music ever.
  53. 3:44 I'm just trying to party with you guys.
  54. 3:46 Homer, first of all, it's partay.
  55. 3:49 And second, we wouldn't partay with you if you were the last dad on Earth.
  56. 3:55 Hmm.
  57. 4:01 Hi there. It's been a while since I set foot in Good Vibrations music.
  58. 4:05 Where can I find the latest releases by bread?
  59. 4:08 Oldies.
  60. 4:10 But you've got all the top bands in here.
  61. 4:12 Sticks! I just heard them on the King Biscuit Flower Hour.
  62. 4:16 Now, here are some of your no-name bands.
  63. 4:19 Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails, Hullabalooza.
  64. 4:23 Hullabalooza is a music festival.
  65. 4:26 The greatest music festival of all time.
  66. 4:28 There can only be one truly great music festival a lifetime, and it's the Us Festival.
  67. 4:33 The what festival? The Us Festival.
  68. 4:36 It was sponsored by that guy from Apple Computers.
  69. 4:40 What computers?
  70. 4:43 Why do you need new bands?
  71. 4:45 Everyone knows Rock Attained Perfection in 1974.
  72. 4:49 It's a scientific fact.
  73. 4:54 Quadraphonic sound, a waterbed, and now a strobe light.
  74. 4:59 Gentlemen, say hello to the second bassmobile.
  75. 5:03 Wicked!
  76. 5:23 Back then, we didn't care what anyone thought.
  77. 5:25 And the chicks found that irresistible. I think you're cool,
  78. 5:31 Homer Simpson.
  79. 5:33 Sandra, that was mean.
  80. 5:34 But most of all, I remember the music.
  81. 5:37 You make me feel like dancing!
  82. 5:40 I want to dance the night away! What the hell are you two doing?
  83. 5:44 It's called rocking out! You wouldn't understand, Dad.
  84. 5:47 You're not with it. I used to be with it.
  85. 5:50 But then they changed what it was.
  86. 5:52 Now what I'm with isn't it. And what's it seems weird and scary to me.
  87. 5:57 It'll happen to you.
  88. 6:00 No way, man.
  89. 6:01 We're going to keep on rocking forever.
  90. 6:03 Forever.
  91. 6:10 What's wrong, homie?
  92. 6:13 I went to the record store today and they were playing all this music I never heard of.
  93. 6:17 It was like the store had gone crazy.
  94. 6:20 Record stores have always seemed crazy to me, but it doesn't upset me.
  95. 6:23 Music is none of my business.
  96. 6:26 That's fine for you, Marge. But I used to rock and roll all night and party every day.
  97. 6:31 Then it was every other day.
  98. 6:33 Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky.
  99. 6:38 I've got to get out of this rut and back into the groove.
  100. 6:41 Oh, God!
  101. 6:43 Try to include Bart and Lisa.
  102. 6:46 dear lord if you keep homer from embarrassing us today we promise to build several
  103. 6:51 churches in your honor bart no hey wait i'm okay

  107. 7:15 What have we here?
  108. 7:17 Looks like your uncool dad scored tickets to Hullabalooza.
  109. 7:22 Bart, these look real.
  110. 7:24 Check the authenticator spot.
  111. 7:26 This is an authentic Hullabalooza ticket.
  112. 7:29 For authentic refreshment, eat Clark Bars.
  113. 7:31 And for totally outrageous class rings, it's Jostens.
  114. 7:35 Go Jostens. You're not going to school today.
  115. 7:38 Today, your classroom will be the Capital City Amphitheater.
  116. 7:42 Your teacher, four dozen rock bands.
  117. 7:45 So get ready for some well-supervised craziness while you rock out with your father.
  118. 7:50 Woo-hoo!
  119. 8:00 Wow, it's like Woodstock, only with advertisements everywhere and tons of security guards.
  120. 8:05 People, have your tickets out. Throw your cameras out.
  121. 8:09 Surrender all identification.
  122. 8:12 Oh, my roommate, Kalua.
  123. 8:15 Generation X may be shallow, but at least they have tolerance and respect for all people.
  124. 8:20 Hey, a freak show.
  125. 8:30 Thank you, thank you very much.
  126. 8:33 And now the band you've all been waiting for...
  127. 8:36 Cypress Hill!
  128. 8:39 Before we start, we have a lost child here.
  129. 8:42 If she's not claimed within the next hour,
  130. 8:44 she will become property of Blockbuster Entertainment.
  131. 8:55 What is that smell?
  132. 8:57 It smells like Otto's jacket.
  133. 9:03 Dude, karma.
  134. 9:04 What? Karma. Karma.
  135. 9:07 Oh, I get it.
  136. 9:12 Dad, you cannot wear that. That's a Rastafarian hat.
  137. 9:16 Hey, I've been Safarian since before you were born.
  138. 9:19 Wearing a Jamaican hat makes a bold statement about your connection to reggae music.
  139. 9:24 Well, excuse me.
  140. 9:29 You know what, Dad?
  141. 9:30 Maybe we'll go exploring on our own for a while.
  142. 9:34 Well, Homer, this is it.
  143. 9:36 Time to get back with the people.
  144. 9:37 The young people.
  145. 9:41 All right, yeah!
  146. 9:43 Cool concert, am I right? Yeah, nice try, Nark.
  147. 9:46 Where's the Nark? Who?
  148. 9:48 That Jamaican guy.
  149. 9:49 What did I say? What's going on? Hey, we're just trying to have a good time, Nark.
  150. 9:54 Why do you want to destroy us? Don't commit your hate crimes here.
  151. 9:58 Hate crime!
  152. 10:00 Okay, I'm heading out now. More butt support.
  153. 10:03 More butt support.
  154. 10:09 My reflection, dirty mirror.
  155. 10:13 There's no connection to myself.
  156. 10:17 I'm your lover.
  157. 10:19 I'm your zero.
  158. 10:21 I'm a face if your dreams are flat.
  159. 10:28 It may be bleak, but this music is really getting to the crowd.
  160. 10:32 Uh, making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel.
  161. 10:40 No, makes no sense.
  162. 10:43 I haven't changed since high school and suddenly I'm uncool.
  163. 10:48 I've been kicked out of paradise.
  164. 10:51 I'll never be part of the scene again.
  165. 10:56 Uh-oh.
  166. 10:59 Oh,
  167. 11:05 man.
  168. 11:05 Here goes Peter Frampton's big finale.
  169. 11:08 He's gonna be pissed off. You're damn right I'm gonna be pissed off.
  170. 11:11 I bought that pig at Pinkfroy's yard sale.
  171. 11:14 Dad, are you okay?
  172. 11:15 I'm fine.
  173. 11:20 Sir, I run Hullabalooza's pageant of the transmundane.
  174. 11:23 the freak show, and I've been looking for a big fatso to shoot with a cannon.
  175. 11:28 I'd like very much for you to be that fatso.
  176. 11:34 So, you want to go on tour with a traveling freak show?
  177. 11:39 I don't think I have a choice, Marge. Of course, you have a choice.
  178. 11:42 How do you figure?
  179. 11:43 You don't have to join a freak show just because the opportunity came along.
  180. 11:47 You know, Marge, in some ways, you and I are very different people.
  181. 11:56 And now,
  182. 11:58 get ready for the man with the Iron Stomach!
  183. 12:08 Hi, everybody.
  184. 12:11 Is everybody... good?
  185. 12:28 Thank you.
  186. 12:30 Thank you very much.
  187. 12:36 Stay in school.
  188. 12:38 Your hero, Homer.
  189. 12:41 Hey, Cannonball. I like your statement. When life takes a cheap shot at you,
  190. 12:45 you stay on your ground.
  191. 12:46 Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins. Homer Simpson, smiling politely.
  192. 12:50 You know, my kids think you're the greatest.
  193. 12:53 And thanks to your gloomy music,
  194. 12:55 they've finally stopped dreaming of a future I can't possibly provide.
  195. 12:58 Well, we try to make a difference.
  196. 13:01 Dear Bart and Lisa,
  197. 13:03 All is well on tour with America's most popular alternative music festival.
  198. 13:08 Our first job is to entertain.
  199. 13:14 And I like to think sometimes we get a message across as well.
  200. 13:25 But the main thing is,
  201. 13:27 I finally tapped into that spirit of self-destruction that makes rock and roll
  202. 13:32 the king of music.
  203. 13:42 Hello, ticket holders!
  204. 13:46 Oh, here comes that cannonball guy. He's cool.
  205. 13:50 Are you being sarcastic, dude?
  206. 13:53 I don't even know anymore.
  207. 14:02 Thank you!
  208. 14:04 And remember, don't trust anyone over 30!
  209. 14:08 And now, Peter Frampton!
  210. 14:12 Thanks, Homer.
  211. 14:14 Homer Simpson, everyone!
  212. 14:19 Hey, Homer. Looks like our next stop is your hometown, Springfield.
  213. 14:22 Is it true that we have to bring our own water?
  214. 14:25 We got a little rule back home.
  215. 14:27 If it's brown, drink it down. If it's black, send it back.
  216. 14:30 The hometown show's the big one, Homer.
  217. 14:32 Yeah,
  218. 14:32 people who called you a weirdo in high school get to see what a successful freak you've
  219. 14:36 become.
  220. 14:37 Hey, I wasn't a weirdo.
  221. 14:39 I was in the audiovisual club.
  222. 14:41 Really? Me too.
  223. 14:42 But I got kicked out because of my views on Vietnam.
  224. 14:46 Also, I was stealing projectors.
  225. 14:50 Anyway, get ready, beer belly. we're gonna show Springfield what we're made of.
  226. 14:59 That was odd.
  227. 15:02 Gee, I don't like the sound of that.
  228. 15:04 No biggie. I'm cool.
  229. 15:06 Homer, nothing's more important to me than the health and well-being of my freaks.
  230. 15:10 I'm sending you to a vet.
  231. 15:13 My God!
  232. 15:14 Those cannonballs have practically demolished your stomach.
  233. 15:17 From now on, no cannonballs. No spicy foods.
  234. 15:20 And when you lie in a hammock, please, rest your beer on your head or your genitals.
  235. 15:26 Rules.
  236. 15:27 I'm a rocker. I don't care for rules.
  237. 15:30 Mr. Simpson, this is serious.
  238. 15:32 If you take one more cannonball to the gut, you will die.
  239. 15:38 Die?
  240. 15:39 Well, you don't scare me, Doc. Because dying would be a stone groove.
  241. 15:45 Got any messages for Jimi Hendrix?
  242. 15:48 Yes. Pick up your puppy.
  243. 15:56 So what's it like being famous, Dad?
  244. 15:59 People know your name, but you don't know theirs.
  245. 16:01 It's great.
  246. 16:03 Dad, do you wear boxers or briefs?
  247. 16:06 Nope.
  248. 16:07 What religion are you? You know,
  249. 16:09 the one with all the well-meaning rules that don't work out in real life.
  250. 16:14 Christianity.
  251. 16:15 What's with all the questions?
  252. 16:16 Just some report I gotta do for school. Hey, you want some pie?
  253. 16:19 Sure. We got a lot of catching up to do.
  254. 16:26 Hmm.
  255. 16:45 Clear the way, clear the way!
  256. 16:47 Performer coming through.
  257. 16:48 This is so exciting.
  258. 16:49 Last time I got to go backstage was when Bart ripped his pants at the Christmas play.
  259. 16:53 Mom!
  260. 16:54 Ha ha!
  261. 17:00 Hello, bands.
  262. 17:01 Who is playing with the London Symphony Orchestra?
  263. 17:05 Come on, people. Somebody order the London Symphony Orchestra.
  264. 17:09 Possibly while high.
  265. 17:11 Cypress Hill, I'm looking in your direction.
  266. 17:15 Hey, man, did we order an orchestra?
  267. 17:17 What's up with this orchestra, man? Where'd the orchestra come from?
  268. 17:20 I don't know, man.
  269. 17:20 They didn't tell me about this, man.
  270. 17:22 We gotta do something.
  271. 17:24 Uh, yeah, yeah, we think we did.
  272. 17:26 Uh, do you know Insane in the Brain?
  273. 17:29 We mostly know classical, but we could give it a shot.
  274. 17:43 Now, this I like.
  275. 17:57 Man, that guy's guitar is talking. Hey, my shoes are talking too.
  276. 18:02 Don't worry.
  277. 18:04 We won't hurt you.
  278. 18:06 We only want to have some fun.
  279. 18:11 And to think, Smithers, you laughed when I bought Ticketmaster.
  280. 18:16 Nobody's going to pay a 100% service charge.
  281. 18:20 Well, it's a policy that ensures a healthy mix of the rich and the ignorant, sir.
  282. 18:26 Do you feel like we do Springfield?
  283. 18:30 Yeah!
  284. 18:31 Do you... Wait, this is... Do you... Do you feel?
  285. 18:36 Do you feel?
  286. 18:38 Oh, come on! Do you feel?
  287. 18:41 God.
  288. 18:42 Homer Simpson wrecks my pig.
  289. 18:44 Cypress Hill steals my orchestra and Sonic Youth's in my cooler.
  290. 18:49 Get out of there, you kids.
  291. 18:50 Aw, come on, Mr. Frampton. You're not going to eat all that watermelon.
  292. 18:54 Please, I'm trying to perform.
  293. 18:57 Go ahead.
  294. 18:58 We'll stay here and guard your cooler.
  295. 19:00 Oh, 25 years I've been in this. I've never heard anything.
  296. 19:06 And now, Springfield, this is the moment that you've been waiting for.
  297. 19:10 the man who embodies everything about rock and roll, except the music,
  298. 19:15 give it up for your very own homegrown hero, Homer Simpson!
  299. 19:23 I used to carpool with that guy.
  300. 19:27 Oh, this is heavy.
  301. 19:30 Okay, Homer, don't fear the Reaper.
  302. 19:33 Oh, I'm gonna die. Cannons are designed to hurt.
  303. 19:38 They're designed to hurt.
  304. 19:41 Shh, Mom. Dad needs our support.
  305. 19:46 You're the coolest dad alive.
  306. 20:16 Oh, Marge, I thought I had an appetite for destruction,
  307. 20:20 and all I wanted was a club sandwich.
  308. 20:22 There might be one in this cooler.
  309. 20:25 Oh, here we go. Oh, man.
  310. 20:28 Homer wussed out. I'm so disillusioned. Hey, hullabalooza isn't about freaks.
  311. 20:34 It's about music and advertising and youth-oriented product positioning.
  312. 20:39 That and getting toasted.
  313. 20:40 Nicely toasted.
  314. 20:42 Homer, I'm sorry. There's nothing worse than a yellow-bellied freak,
  315. 20:46 unless that's his act.
  316. 20:47 I expect your letter of resignation on my desk.
  317. 20:50 You have a desk?
  318. 20:51 I mean the hood of my car.
  319. 20:54 I'll miss you, Pumpkins, but I just can't share your bleak worldview.
  320. 20:58 I've got too much to live for.
  321. 21:00 We envy you, Homer. All we have is our music, our legions of fans,
  322. 21:04 our millions of dollars, and our youth.
  323. 21:07 Woo-hoo!
  324. 21:09 Let's all go out and buy fur coats. I want a walk-in humidor.
  325. 21:16 So, I realized that being with my family is more important than being cool.
  326. 21:21 Dad, what you just said was powerfully uncool.
  327. 21:25 You know what the song says?
  328. 21:26 It's hip to be square. That song is so lame.
  329. 21:31 So lame that it's cool?
  330. 21:33 No.
  331. 21:34 Am I cool, kids?
  332. 21:36 No.
  333. 21:37 Good, I'm glad.
  334. 21:38 And that's what makes me cool. Not caring, right?
  335. 21:41 No.
  336. 21:42 Well, how the hell do you be cool? I feel like we've tried everything here.
