The Simpsons, “The Homer They Fall” (season 8, episode 3), 8:29–8:39
What happens
Barney, the heavy drunk with messy brown hair and a pink shirt, leans on the bar at Moe's, ringside behind the boxing ropes, talking and then clenching his fist with a sly grin before tipping back a bottle labeled VARNISH while onlookers watch behind him. The scene opens on the purple exterior of Moe's, where a banner reads BOXING TONIGHT with the quote "CRUELEST OF SPORTS" from Newsday above the MOE'S sign and purple door. The shot moves from the outside building to the bar interior, where a green-shirted patron and others stand in the background.
