What happens

No characters appear in this moment. A wide, pale sandy shoreline with scattered grey and brown rocks and a cluster of dark green pine trees on rocky slopes at the upper left borders a river of dark brown oil slick. The blue-edged black sludge spreads and shifts across the water from the lower right toward the upper left, its blobs stretching and reshaping as the slick moves along the bank.
