What happens

Only a disembodied yellow cartoon hand is visible, entering from the right to hold up a magazine titled "Better Homes than yours" (U.S. $3.27) against a blue background scattered with litter, including a crushed red can, popcorn kernels, and a crumpled paper. The magazine cover shows a lavender living room with a rose bouquet on a wooden coffee table, a lamp, a framed painting, a chandelier, and a staircase. Before the hand appears, the scene holds still on that same living room, with the purple sofa and armchair, the lamp, and the flowers unchanged, and then the hand lifts the magazine into view.
