What happens

Santa's Little Helper, the family's brown greyhound, runs across a grassy lawn in the first frames, then a grey-haired old man with white tufts, Grampa, lies on the ground in a white robe while the dog grabs at him, with a log cabin engulfed in flames behind them and a woman with a tall blue beehive hairdo standing at the left edge. In the opening shot the dog is seen standing on a large brown dog-shaped rock or creature lying on a rocky slope under a blue sky, and a yellow map of the Swartzwelder County area with green pine trees and the words 'SWARTZ... COU...' appears in the middle of the sequence, where a burning cabin marked on the map sends up flames and smoke. The scene shifts between the animated landscape and the burning log cabin, with flames pouring from its roof and windows and a stack of firewood beside it.
