What happens

No regular characters appear in this opening title sequence. The scene begins on a black screen, then shows drifting cumulus clouds against a blue sky, with the yellow title text 'THE SIMPSONS' appearing over the clouds. The view then pans over the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, with its two grey cooling towers bearing atomic symbols and a sign reading 'WELCOME TO SPRINGFIELD NUCLEAR POWER PLANT', and finally moves down a street past a yellow building with a striped awning labeled 'DAIRY' toward a school with a flagpole in the distance.
