What happens

No recognizable characters appear in this opening sequence. The scene starts on black, then shows drifting tan-and-cream clouds against a blue sky, with the yellow title text THE SIMPSONS appearing over the clouds. The view then shifts to a green hillside town with a Springfield Nuclear Power Plant sign in yellow letters in front of two grey cooling towers with atom symbols, and finally to a street scene with a shop awning reading DANCE, and a school building with a flagpole at the end of the road.
