No characters appear in this moment. It opens on a black screen, then drifting pinkish clouds across a blue sky, with the orange title text 'The Simpsons' appearing over the clouds. The scene then shows the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant with its grey cooling towers and a yellow 'Welcome to Springfield Nuclear Power Plant' sign, before moving to an empty town street lined with a yellow shop under a striped awning and a pink building, leading to a school with a flagpole and a red sign on the sidewalk.
