About the episode

Three Halloween tales: an ion storm brings Springfield's giant advertising mascots to life, including a Lard Lad whose donut Homer has stolen, until Lisa and Paul Anka stop them with a jingle telling people to look away. 1. 0:12 Oh.
  2. 0:32 Ah, the Miracle Mile.
  3. 0:34 But Bell, you wear the neon sombrero,
  4. 0:36 and there's not a single church or library to offend the eyes.
  5. 0:40 There it is.
  6. 0:41 The chain that put the fat in fat southern sheriffs.
  7. 0:46 I want a colossal donut, just like the one on the sign.
  8. 0:51 Nuts. That's false advertising.
  9. 0:53 Sorry, sir. No refunds. I paid for a colossal donut,
  10. 0:57 and I'm gonna get a colossal donut.
  11. 1:02 You don't scare us.
  12. 1:11 Astronomers from Tacoma to Vladivostok have just reported an ionic disturbance in the
  13. 1:16 vicinity of the Van Allen Belt.
  14. 1:17 Scientists are recommending that all necessary precautions be taken.
  15. 1:21 Hey, kids, what do they know?
  16. 1:35 I got your donut lard, lad. And what are you gonna do about it?
  17. 1:59 Homer, where did you get that?
  18. 2:01 Get what? The giant donut.
  19. 2:03 Well, I acquired it legally.
  20. 2:06 You can be sure of that.
  21. 2:13 Dudes are huge!
  22. 2:14 Now let's party, baby! Hey, hey, hey, hey!
  23. 2:25 Fellas, where you going at this hour?
  24. 2:28 Hey, don't scratch up them heads.
  25. 2:30 Good morning, everybody.
  26. 2:32 Panic is gripping Springfield as giant advertising mascots rampage through the city.
  27. 2:36 Perhaps it's part of some daring new ad campaign,
  28. 2:39 but what new product could justify such carnage?
  29. 2:41 A cleanser?
  30. 2:42 A fat-free fudge cake that doesn't let you down in the flavor department like so many
  31. 2:46 others?
  32. 2:47 Let me go! No! Stop!
  33. 2:49 No!
  34. 2:54 Whoa, another acid flashback.
  35. 2:57 Man, I need to be driving a bus right now.
  36. 3:06 Oh,
  37. 3:14 they're not so tough. Uh, Chief, that wasn't a monster.
  38. 3:18 That was the captain of the high school basketball team.
  39. 3:20 Uh, yeah, well, he was turning into a monster, though.
  40. 3:25 What are you waiting for? Wreck the school.
  41. 3:27 You know you wanna.
  42. 3:29 I agree. Destroy the school.
  43. 3:38 Hello?
  44. 3:38 Yes?
  45. 3:39 Oh.
  46. 3:40 Uh, if you're looking for that big donut of yours, um, Flanders has it.
  47. 3:45 Just smash open his house.
  48. 3:47 He came to life.
  49. 3:48 Good for him.
  50. 3:58 Help me, Lord.
  51. 3:59 I told you, Flanders has it.
  52. 4:02 Or Moe.
  53. 4:03 Go kill Moe.
  54. 4:05 Horror. Just give him the donut.
  55. 4:07 Once he has it, that will be the end of all this horror.
  56. 4:09 Well, okay.
  57. 4:11 If it'll end horror.
  58. 4:25 Don't you ever get tired of being wrong all the time?
  59. 4:28 Sometimes.
  60. 4:42 These monsters are destroying everything and everyone we hold dear.
  61. 4:46 And your kid should have jackets on. Hey, what's that in his footprint?
  62. 4:53 Hmm.
  63. 4:55 If your advertising agency created all those giant characters,
  64. 4:58 you must know how to stop them.
  65. 5:00 Well, sir, advertising is a funny thing.
  66. 5:03 If people stop paying attention to it, pretty soon it goes away.
  67. 5:07 Like that old woman who couldn't find the beef?
  68. 5:09 Exactly.
  69. 5:10 If you stop paying attention to the monsters, they'll lose their powers.
  70. 5:14 But people can't help looking at them. They're wrecking the town.
  71. 5:18 You know, maybe a jingle would help.
  72. 5:21 Don't watch the mon...
  73. 5:23 Don't watch the...
  74. 5:26 Monsters!
  75. 5:28 Well, it'll sound a lot better coming out of Paul Anka.
  76. 5:32 Hey, Springfield! Are you suffering from the heartbreak of monsteritis?
  77. 5:38 Then take a tip from Mr. Paul Anka!
  78. 5:42 To stop those monsters, one, two, three.
  79. 5:45 Here's a fresh new way that's trouble-free.
  80. 5:48 It's got Paul Anka's guarantee.
  81. 5:52 Guarantee void in Tennessee.
  82. 5:54 Just outlaw, just outlaw.
  83. 5:59 Just don't look, just don't look.
  84. 6:17 It worked! They're all dead!
  85. 6:19 Well, except for Chubsy-Ubsy over there.
  86. 6:25 Sprinkles.
  87. 6:26 Homer, stop looking! Don't make us poke your eyes out, Dad.
  88. 6:29 Oh.
  89. 6:34 Here comes something. Remember the story.
  90. 6:37 We're newlyweds on our way to Earth Capital.
  91. 6:41 Oh, shazbutt. Even as I speak,
  92. 6:43 the scourge of advertising could be heading toward your town.
  93. 6:46 Lock your doors.
  94. 6:48 Bar your windows.
  95. 6:49 Because the next advertisement you see could destroy your house and eat your family.
  96. 6:54 We'll be right back.
  97. 7:02 Okay boy, catch the frisbee.
  98. 7:05 Good catch, boy.
  99. 7:08 Thanks, Bob.
  100. 7:15 Oh, hard luck.
  101. 7:18 I... I... I... I... I...
  102. 7:37 It was only a dream.
  103. 7:40 I... I... Is that you? Yes!
  104. 7:43 Take out the garbage.
  105. 7:46 And then he raked me across the chest. And the weirdest thing was,
  106. 7:49 it was that school janitor who mysteriously disappeared.
  107. 7:53 Groundskeeper Willie.
  108. 7:54 Oh, my God, Bart. Groundskeeper Willie was in my nightmare, too.
  109. 7:58 But he got me with hedge clippers.
  110. 8:02 He ran his floor buffer over me.
  111. 8:05 Children, I couldn't help monitoring your conversation.
  112. 8:08 There's no mystery about Willie why he simply disappeared.
  113. 8:12 Now, let's have no more curiosity about this bizarre cover-up.
  114. 8:17 Remember, class, the worse you do on the standardized test,
  115. 8:19 the more funding the school gets, so don't knock yourselves out.
  116. 8:22 You have three hours to... Finished!
  117. 8:25 Ugh.
  118. 8:26 Then put your head down on your desk and sit quietly.
  119. 8:28 Ah, a duet of pleasures.
  120. 8:32 I am the wondrous wizard of Latin.
  121. 8:35 I am a dervish of declension and a conjurer of conjugation with a million hit points and
  122. 8:40 maximum charisma.
  123. 8:42 Aha!
  124. 8:43 Morire to die. Maurice, he, she, or it dies!
  125. 8:49 Maurice, you die.
  126. 8:53 You've mastered a dead tongue, but can you handle a live one?
  127. 9:11 Wheel him out quietly.
  128. 9:12 It's best the children don't see him.
  129. 9:17 Oh, just get it out of here.
  130. 9:19 Not into the kindergarten.
  131. 9:22 Mom, Dad, Martin died at school today.
  132. 9:26 Oh, I don't see what that has to do with groundskeeper Willie.
  133. 9:31 Um, we didn't mention groundskeeper Willie, Mom.
  134. 9:37 Kids, it's time we told you the true story and put your fears to rest.
  135. 9:40 It's a story of murder and revenge from beyond the grave.
  136. 9:45 It all started on the 13th hour of the 13th day of the 13th month.
  137. 9:52 We were there to discuss the misprinted calendars the school had purchased.
  138. 9:57 Oh, lousy smart weather.
  139. 10:00 Do not touch Willie.
  140. 10:01 Good advice.
  141. 10:07 Huh?
  142. 10:10 Our next budget item, $12 for doorknob repair.
  143. 10:13 Nay.
  144. 10:16 Recharge fire extinguishers. This is a free service of the fire department.
  145. 10:20 Nay.
  146. 10:27 Help!
  147. 10:28 Please help me!
  148. 10:29 Willie, please.
  149. 10:31 Mr. Van Houten has the floor.
  150. 10:32 I, for one,
  151. 10:33 would like to see the cafeteria menus in advance so parents can adjust their dinner menus
  152. 10:37 accordingly.
  153. 10:38 I don't like the idea of Milhouse having two spaghetti meals in one day.
  154. 10:48 You'll pay for this with your children's blood!
  155. 10:53 Oh, right. How are you going to get them?
  156. 10:54 Skeleton power?
  157. 10:56 I'll strike where you cannot protect them.
  158. 11:00 In their dreams.
  159. 11:06 Bart, don't you realize what this means?
  160. 11:08 The next time you fall asleep, we could die.
  161. 11:11 Welcome to my world.
  162. 11:17 On this edition of Asian Market Wrap-Up,
  163. 11:20 there's a volcano waiting to erupt in the Pacific Rim.
  164. 11:23 It's nine medium-term convertible adventures.
  165. 11:26 It's no use, Bart. We can't stay up forever.
  166. 11:29 You're right.
  167. 11:30 The only thing left to do is go into my dream and force Willie into a final showdown.
  168. 11:35 You stay awake, and if it looks like I'm in trouble, wake me up.
  169. 11:39 Okay, but promise you won't be grouchy.
  170. 11:53 Come on, Willy.
  171. 11:54 I know you're out there.
  172. 11:57 Ah!
  173. 12:06 The sandbox.
  174. 12:20 Hey, lawn boy, you missed a spot.
  175. 12:24 When I'm done with you, I'll have to do a camp post mortem.
  176. 12:38 Ah! Sinky sand!
  177. 12:41 Ah!
  178. 12:44 Telltale!
  179. 12:45 Oh, Lily's gone for good.
  180. 12:48 Now I can get back to my normal dreams. Me and Krusty winning the Super Bowl.
  181. 12:53 Bart, there's two seconds left. Now listen up.
  182. 12:55 It's your basic Statue of Liberty play. With one quiz, you throw it to me.
  183. 12:59 Nuke Rockne called at the forward pass.
  184. 13:01 Now, the clock's still running,
  185. 13:02 so it's important we start this play as quickly as possible.
  186. 13:07 Oh, boy.
  187. 13:08 Don't dream about me no more, kid.
  188. 13:11 Help!
  189. 13:11 Lisa!
  190. 13:12 Help! Bart, you're in trouble! Wake up! Wait a minute.
  191. 13:15 If you're here, then you've fallen asleep too.
  192. 13:18 I'm not asleep. I'm just resting my eye...
  193. 13:20 Uh-oh.
  194. 13:25 Goodbye, Bart.
  195. 13:27 Goodbye, Elise.
  196. 13:28 Hope you get reincarnated as someone who can stay awake for 15 minutes.
  197. 13:49 You saved us, Maggie!
  198. 13:57 I don't know, Bart.
  199. 13:58 Something tells me Will is still out there and that he could come back any time in any
  200. 14:02 form and kill us in ways we can't even imagine.
  201. 14:12 Here I am.
  202. 14:16 Stop!
  203. 14:18 I left my gun on the seat!
  204. 14:20 Hey!
  205. 14:21 Wait here, please.
  206. 14:26 Oh, jeez!
  207. 14:36 Get ready. Patty and Shama will be here any minute.
  208. 14:39 Oh, no.
  209. 14:40 Better ride this one out in the closet.
  210. 14:44 Sorry, Dad. This is our spot. Oh, yeah?
  211. 14:46 Well, it's my house, so it's my spot. Nuh-uh, because we called it.
  212. 14:50 Did not. Well, we're calling it now. You are?
  213. 14:52 Afraid so. Oh, they got me with their legal mumbo-jumbo.
  214. 15:03 Just a second!
  215. 15:07 Huh? I never looked behind this whatchamacallit case before.
  216. 15:13 Huh? That's weird.
  217. 15:15 It's like something out of that Twilight-y show about that zone.
  218. 15:20 How's it hanging, Marge?
  219. 15:22 I'm baking like a meatloaf under this wet wall.
  220. 15:27 Um, may I take your coat, Anselma? Um,
  221. 15:30 I would also like to take your coat.
  222. 15:34 Have we got a family activity for you?
  223. 15:37 A pillowcase full of seashells from our trip to Sulphur Bay.
  224. 15:41 You're gonna help us clean and organize them.
  225. 15:42 And pry out all the dead hermit crabs.
  226. 15:44 Get a screwdriver.
  227. 15:47 I'll take my chances in the mystery wall.
  228. 16:00 Oh, glory of glories.
  229. 16:02 Oh, heavenly testament to the eternal majesty of God's creation.
  230. 16:07 Holy macaroni!
  231. 16:13 Hey, you can just suck them out. Hello?
  232. 16:16 Can anybody hear me?
  233. 16:19 Homer, where are you?
  234. 16:21 I'm somewhere where I don't know where I am.
  235. 16:24 Do you see towels?
  236. 16:25 If you see towels, you're probably in the linen closet again.
  237. 16:28 Just a second.
  238. 16:30 No, it's a place I've never been before.
  239. 16:33 The shower.
  240. 16:36 Hey!
  241. 16:46 I don't want to alarm you, Marge. But I seem to be trapped in here.
  242. 16:50 We better call Ned. He has a ladder.
  243. 16:53 What's going on here?
  244. 16:55 I'm so bulgy.
  245. 16:59 My stomach sticks way out in front and my...
  246. 17:04 Well, as the tree said to the lumberjack, I'm stumped.
  247. 17:07 It's like he just disappeared in the fat air.
  248. 17:12 Hey, shut up!
  249. 17:27 Mmm, unprocessed fish sticks.
  250. 17:42 Man, this place looks expensive.
  251. 17:44 I feel like I'm wasting a fortune just standing here.
  252. 17:51 Better make the most of it.
  253. 17:54 Uh... Ow!
  254. 17:57 Watch it, Coney!
  255. 18:03 Oops.
  256. 18:05 Do you see a light, Homer?
  257. 18:07 Yes?
  258. 18:07 Move into the light, my son.
  259. 18:10 Ow!
  260. 18:11 Homer, this is your physician, Dr. Julius Hibbert.
  261. 18:15 Can you tell us what it's like in there?
  262. 18:18 Um, it's like, uh... Did anyone see the movie Tron?
  263. 18:23 No. No.
  264. 18:26 No. No. No. No. No. Yes.
  265. 18:29 I mean, no. No.
  266. 18:33 Well, where's my dad?
  267. 18:35 Well, it should be obvious to even the most dimwitted individual,
  268. 18:38 who holds an advanced degree in hyperbolic topology,
  269. 18:41 that Homer Simpson has stumbled into the third dimension.
  270. 18:48 Sorry.
  271. 18:51 Here is an ordinary square. Whoa, whoa. Slow down, egghead.
  272. 18:55 But suppose we extend the square beyond the two dimensions of our universe along the
  273. 19:01 hypothetical z-axis there.
  274. 19:05 This forms a three-dimensional object known as a cube or a frinkahedron in honor of
  275. 19:11 its discoverer. Hey, hey. Help me!
  276. 19:14 Are you helping me or are you going on and on?
  277. 19:16 Oh, right, and of course, within, we find the doomed individual.
  278. 19:20 Enough of your borax, Poindexter. Man's life is at stake.
  279. 19:23 We need action.
  280. 19:27 Take that, you lousy dimension!
  281. 19:38 There's so much I don't know about astrophysics.
  282. 19:40 I wish I read that book by that wheelchair guy.
  283. 19:56 I'll save Homer.
  284. 19:57 All I need is four stout men to work the bellows.
  285. 20:01 No, Pops, it's too risky.
  286. 20:02 For all we know, there could be cubes in there the size of gorillas and other large...
  287. 20:06 Help!
  288. 20:07 I don't have much time!
  289. 20:09 That does it. I'm going in.
  290. 20:11 Bart, no!
  291. 20:18 Cool, man.
  292. 20:25 Oh, my God, I'm gonna be sucked into a black hole.
  293. 20:27 I'm gonna be sucked into oblivion. I'm gonna be nothing.
  294. 20:28 And what's gonna be coming on the other side?
  295. 20:30 I don't know.
  296. 20:31 I'll save you, Dad.
  297. 20:35 I can't get any closer.
  298. 20:38 You'll have to jump.
  299. 20:42 Piece of cake, son.
  300. 20:58 What happened?
  301. 21:00 Well,
  302. 21:00 we hit a little snag when the universe sort of collapsed on itself But Dad seemed cautiously
  303. 21:04 optimistic Oh,
  304. 21:10 me Be strong, Marge I'm sure he's gone to a better place.
  305. 21:21 Eww, this is the worst place yet.
  306. 21:27 Oh my god, look at that!
  307. 21:30 Oh mommy, oh my god!
  308. 21:42 Ooh, erotic cakes.
  309. 22:12 Thank you.
