What happens

Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, Bart, and Carl sit among a packed congregation in the pews of First Church of Springfield, along with a dark-haired man in a white shirt and blue tie. The scene opens on the church's sign reading "Today's Sermon: Conquest of the County of the Apes," then moves inside to a robed preacher at a pulpit beneath stained-glass windows, with rows of worshippers on either side of a red carpet. The camera-free view then closes in on the pews as the people in front, mouths open, lean forward and react in alarm while the preacher speaks.
