What happens

Lisa and Bart stand among a cluttered backyard of gadgets, including a brain in a glass tank and a gauge-covered machine, while Marge, Homer and Maggie watch a thin man in a white lab coat, glasses and a blue bow tie. Yellow-gloved hands lift a wooden rack with a $12 price tag, then the lab-coated man gestures with his hands and talks while Homer looks on and Maggie clutches a blue blanket. Later, Homer raises a hand as the man clasps his hands and talks in front of a brick house with a round clock-like gauge on its side.
