What happens

No regular characters appear in this opening title sequence. It begins on a black screen, then shows a blue sky with drifting tan clouds, where the words "THE SIMPSONS" appear in glowing orange letters that briefly flash the nuclear plant logo inside the P. The view then pans over Springfield's green hills, pink and orange buildings, a grey nuclear cooling tower bearing an atom symbol, and a "Welcome to Springfield" sign, ending on a tree-lined street in front of the Springfield Elementary school building with a flagpole and a "DA" storefront awning at left.
