About the episode

Told she will fail gym unless she joins a team, Lisa becomes a star goalie for Apu's Kwik-E-Mart Gougers, the rivals of Bart's hockey team. Homer plays favorites and stokes the sibling rivalry, to Marge's fury, until the teams meet in a game that comes down to Bart taking a penalty shot on Lisa, where the two remember their bond and drop their sticks.

  67. 4:04 Lisa, your father and I are very concerned about this warning.
  68. 4:07 I really hope you try harder.
  69. 4:10 That's all of them. And I'm so proud you didn't try to forge my name.
  70. 4:14 How about a present, son? Well, I could use a new pair of hockey skates.
  71. 4:18 Done and done. That's not fair.
  72. 4:20 Why is Bart getting a present and I'm getting chewed out?
  73. 4:23 Ah, the mysteries of life.
  74. 4:26 Tell you what, Simpson,
  75. 4:27 I won't fail you if you join one of those peewee teams outside the school.
  76. 4:31 You mean those leagues where parents push their kids into vicious competition to
  77. 4:35 compensate for their own failed dreams of glory?
  78. 4:38 Look, I don't need this. I inhaled my favorite whistle this morning.
  79. 4:58 Children, that was our only ball.
  80. 5:00 There'll be no team this year.
  81. 5:07 Mom, this is really scary. I'm going to get my first F ever.
  82. 5:12 Cheer up. So you're not good at sports. It's a very small part of life.
  83. 5:16 Sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports, sports.
  84. 5:18 Bart rides up in the front seat today because he's a good guy at sports.
  85. 5:23 I think Lisa needs to feel a little special tonight.
  86. 5:26 How about letting her ride up front, too?
  87. 5:30 I tried.
  88. 5:33 Okay, son.
  89. 5:34 Just remember to have fun out there today.
  90. 5:37 And if you lose, I'll kill you!
  91. 5:48 All right, pigs. Beat those gougers.
  92. 5:56 I could have been equipment manager, but no!
  93. 6:11 Our goalie cannot stand up.
  94. 6:13 Tell you what, get some rope!
  95. 6:31 Defense!
  96. 6:32 Come on! You call that blowing?
  97. 6:37 Oh, yes! We won! We won!
  98. 6:39 We won!
  99. 6:40 Um, unfortunately, since I bet on the other team, we won't be gone for pizza.
  100. 6:46 Well, boy, you won. So I'm going to live up to my side of the agreement.
  101. 6:51 Here's your turtle, alive and well.
  102. 6:54 Aw, thanks, Dad.
  103. 6:58 How about some adulation for my little sister?
  104. 7:00 Wow, Bart, I'm so impressed you were able to give Milhouse a concussion.
  105. 7:04 Well, you're just jealous because... You acting!
  106. 7:09 Sports!
  107. 7:10 Cut it out, Bart! What's that?
  108. 7:13 Ooh, you know, I wonder if her skills will transfer over to the game of hockey.
  109. 7:19 Well, only one way to be sure.
  110. 7:22 Heads up, little girl!
  111. 7:27 The goalie of my dreams!
  112. 7:31 Let's try a hard one to make sure it wasn't a fluke.
  113. 7:37 Hey!
  114. 7:38 Way to knock out my teeth!
  115. 7:41 Yeah, that's it, millhouse. Keep up the chatter.
  116. 7:48 Visa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't,
  117. 7:53 it's that girls should stick to girls' sports, such as hot oil wrestling, boxy boxing,
  118. 7:59 and such and such. I think women should be able to play any sport men play,
  119. 8:02 but hockey is so violent and dangerous. Look at Milhouse's teeth.
  120. 8:07 Mom, will you stop showing us those?
  121. 8:09 I have to join the team or I'll get an F that will haunt me for the rest of my life.
  122. 8:15 I now pronounce you president of these united...
  123. 8:18 Stop the inauguration.
  124. 8:20 I just discovered a president-elect got it up in second grade gym class.
  125. 8:25 In that case, I sentence you to a lifetime of horror on Monster Island.
  126. 8:30 Don't worry. It's just a name.
  127. 8:36 He said it was just a name.
  128. 8:39 What he meant is that Monster Island is actually a peninsula.
  129. 8:46 Do you have my teeth?
  130. 8:50 No.
  131. 8:55 Okay, Hotshots. Now that my daughter is on your team, I want to make a few things clear.
  132. 9:00 Please, Dad, I'll be fine.
  133. 9:04 I don't want anyone to give her a hard time just because she's different.
  134. 9:09 No jokes, no taunting.
  135. 9:11 Look, that kid's got bosoms! Who's got a wet towel?
  136. 9:15 Come here, you butterball.
  137. 9:18 Don't make me run! I'm full of chocolate!
  138. 9:30 I can't even watch.
  139. 9:31 I don't know how you two can sit here laughing at poor Lisa while she's out there probably
  140. 9:35 scared to death. We're laughing with her, Marge.
  141. 9:38 There's a big difference.
  142. 9:46 With her. You really think I did okay out there, Mom?
  143. 9:49 Absolutely, honey. By blocking the net, I really think you helped your team.
  144. 9:55 Okay, little buddy. Hop in.
  145. 9:58 I mean my little girl, buddy.
  146. 10:01 That's very nice, Dad, but it's wrong for you to reward violent competitive behavior.
  147. 10:06 However, I will sit up front with you if it's a fatherly gesture of love.
  148. 10:09 Okay, hon.
  149. 10:11 Sucker! Competitive violence! That's why you're here!
  150. 10:36 We are having our best season ever.
  151. 10:38 And I would like to say that it is because of teamwork.
  152. 10:42 Gee, who am I kidding, huh? It's all because of Lisa.
  153. 10:45 Let's hear it for Lisa.
  154. 10:47 Yay!
  155. 10:50 Hey, Bart.
  156. 10:51 If Lisa's better than you at hockey,
  157. 10:53 does that mean you're going to become better than her at school?
  158. 10:58 Maybe I will, Milhouse.
  159. 11:01 Maybe I will.
  160. 11:07 Who can tell me the capital of Spain?
  161. 11:09 Bart Simpson.
  162. 11:10 The square root of 36?
  163. 11:12 Bart Simpson.
  164. 11:14 Who freed the slaves?
  165. 11:15 Bart Simpson?
  166. 11:17 Bart Simpson? Bart Simpson, will you stop raising your hand?
  167. 11:21 You haven't had one right answer all day.
  168. 11:23 Sorry.
  169. 11:25 This is for wasting teachers valuable time.
  170. 11:31 Lay off, guys.
  171. 11:33 He's with me.
  172. 11:34 It's a lucky coincidence you happen to be your sister's brother.
  173. 11:39 Don't worry, Bart. They won't bother you anymore.
  174. 11:45 I hardly ever let Mother fight for me anymore.
  175. 11:48 Sorry, Bart.
  176. 11:50 I'm gonna hang out with Lisa for protection.
  177. 11:53 And to be seen.
  178. 11:58 Come watch TV with me, Dad. We missed the first two episodes of Cops, but if we hurry,
  179. 12:02 we can catch the last three.
  180. 12:03 Oh, sorry, Bart. Lisa and I are going out for a gelato.
  181. 12:07 We'd ask you to come, but...
  182. 12:09 you know.
  183. 12:12 Bart, I can spend some time with you.
  184. 12:15 I don't know, Mom. Don't have a stereotypical view of me just because I'm your mother.
  185. 12:19 I know.
  186. 12:20 How about we play the basketball? I'm no Harvey Globetrotter, but...
  187. 12:27 Watch out for the shock attack.
  188. 12:31 I told you to watch out.
  189. 12:34 Hey, Milhouse, knock him down if he's in your way.
  190. 12:37 Jimbo, Jimbo, go for the face.
  191. 12:39 Look, Ralph Wiggum lost his shin guard.
  192. 12:42 Hack the bone, hack the bone.
  193. 12:45 Wow, I have the tiger, mouth of a teamster.
  194. 12:49 To think of all the time I wasted on you.
  195. 12:53 Uh, well, not wasted.
  196. 12:55 Uh, I love you.
  197. 12:59 Let me give my special little winner a big, big hug.
  198. 13:04 Ma, I think I'm all hugged out.
  199. 13:08 Oh, one more.
  200. 13:14 Hello, Queen Lisa.
  201. 13:16 Bart, what are you doing in my room? Lisa, certain differences, rivalries,
  202. 13:20 if you will, have come up between us.
  203. 13:22 At first, I thought we could talk it over like civilized people.
  204. 13:26 But instead, I just ripped the head off Mr.
  205. 13:30 Honey Bunny.
  206. 13:31 Bart, that was your cherished childhood toy.
  207. 13:34 Ah, Mr. Honey Bunny!
  208. 13:40 Quiet down, Bart! Bart, just get out of here.
  209. 13:42 Hey, it's a free country. You get out. That doesn't make sense.
  210. 13:45 I know you are, but what am I? Get out! Get out!
  211. 13:48 Okay, but on my way, I'm going to be doing this.
  212. 13:54 If you get hit, it's your own fault.
  213. 13:59 Okay, then I'm going to start kicking air like this.
  214. 14:02 And if any part of you should feel that air, it's your own fault.
  215. 14:18 Oh, I better go check that out. Now, Homer, don't you eat this pie.
  216. 14:25 Okay.
  217. 14:26 All right, pie, I'm just going to do this.
  218. 14:31 And if you get eaten, it's your own fault.
  219. 14:36 Ow!
  220. 14:39 My!
  221. 14:40 Oh, the hell with that.
  222. 14:45 Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!
  223. 14:48 Stop it!
  224. 14:50 Mom, that is really annoying. Bart started it.
  225. 14:53 Uh-uh, Lisa started it. I don't care who started it.
  226. 14:55 I don't ever want to see you two fighting like that ever again.
  227. 14:58 We love you both. You're not in competition with each other.
  228. 15:02 Repeat, you are not in competition with each other.
  229. 15:06 Hey, a poo just called.
  230. 15:08 This Friday, Lisa's team is playing Bart's team.
  231. 15:10 You're in direct competition.
  232. 15:12 And don't go easy on each other just because you're brother and sister.
  233. 15:15 I want to see you both fighting for your parents' love.
  234. 15:19 Fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight,
  235. 15:28 All right, I'm going to make a little deal with you, Mugs.
  236. 15:31 I'm going to let you all out to see my team play the hockey game if you promise to return
  237. 15:35 to yourselves.
  238. 15:37 Sorry, Pig.
  239. 15:38 We can't make that promise.
  240. 15:40 All right. All right, I'll sweeten the deal.
  241. 15:42 You can see the game. You don't have to come back.
  242. 15:45 But you have to promise not to commit any more crimes, okay?
  243. 15:49 No.
  244. 15:50 I'll take that as a yes.
  245. 15:52 All right! Let's go!
  246. 15:55 At seven tonight, the games begin.
  247. 15:58 Bart versus Lisa, who will win? Their father's fat and their mother's thin.
  248. 16:04 And Grandpa Simpson reeks of gin.
  249. 16:07 Hey!
  250. 16:09 That's obsession for men.
  251. 16:14 That's ketchup.
  252. 16:17 You'll have to do better than that tonight, chump.
  253. 16:22 I asked for ketchup.
  254. 16:24 I'm eating salad here.
  255. 16:26 I won't have any aggressive condiment passing in this house.
  256. 16:30 Hello.
  257. 16:31 Oh, what are you doing here? What? What,
  258. 16:33 a bartender can't come by and say hi to his best customer?
  259. 16:37 Hey, hey there, midge. Oh, gee, I like what you've done to your hair.
  260. 16:40 You caught me at a real bad time, Mo.
  261. 16:43 I hope you understand I'm too tense to pretend I like you.
  262. 16:46 And how are the little kids doing?
  263. 16:48 I mean, really, how are they doing? Any disabling injuries?
  264. 16:51 Something, say, that the gambling community might not yet know about?
  265. 16:54 Come here, let me see those knees.
  266. 16:55 Mo, I think you should leave. But Blanche, you gotta help me out here, please.
  267. 16:59 I'm 64 grand in the hole.
  268. 17:01 They're gonna take my dumbs.
  269. 17:08 Good luck tonight, sis.
  270. 17:11 I'll try not to hurt you.
  271. 17:13 Don't worry. I'm wearing my lucky rabbit's head.
  272. 17:17 Mr. Honey Bunny, you inhuman monster! You want a piece of me?
  273. 17:22 Don't bet. Don't bet.
  274. 17:24 Conserve your precious hatred for the game.
  275. 17:26 Now that we're all alone, Marge, admit it.
  276. 17:28 You like Lisa best. No.
  277. 17:31 Oh, so you're a part woman, are you? No.
  278. 17:33 Well, you can't possibly like Maggie best.
  279. 17:35 What has she ever done? Nothing for nobody.
  280. 17:38 Homer, we can't root for one child over the other.
  281. 17:41 You wouldn't like it if the kids played favorites with us.
  282. 17:44 Hey, Mom, look at me, Mom. Hi, Mom, over here.
  283. 17:47 Mom!
  284. 17:49 Hi, kids. And now, to honor America, here's Rusty the Clown.
  285. 17:55 Oh, say,
  286. 17:57 can you see That a light
  287. 18:03 What so proudly we're there I know!
  288. 18:11 Shouldn't have turned down those cue cards.
  289. 18:26 I love Bart!
  290. 18:32 No, wait!
  291. 18:33 I love Lisa!
  292. 18:35 Beer, oh, Marge, I love you. I'll kill you.
  293. 18:47 Lisa!
  294. 18:49 Bye!
  295. 19:03 He tripped my boy! I demand vengeance.
  296. 19:07 I want vengeance.
  297. 19:10 Jimbo Jones called for tripping.
  298. 19:12 A penalty shot will be taken by Bart Simpson.
  299. 19:17 Oh, my God, Marge. A penalty shot with only four seconds left.
  300. 19:21 It's your child versus mine.
  301. 19:22 The winner will be showered with praise.
  302. 19:24 The loser will be taunted and booed until my throat is sore.
  303. 19:32 Kill her, boy. Kill her.
  304. 19:35 Stop him, dead little girl. Kill, bite, kill, bite,
  305. 19:39 kill, bite, kill, bite, kill, bite.
  306. 19:47 Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill.
  307. 20:40 Great game, Will. Great game, Bart.
  308. 20:48 Tie game! What the hell?
  309. 20:50 This is outrageous.
  310. 20:52 I've never been so proud of them.
  311. 20:59 They're both losers.
  312. 21:01 Losers! Rip off!
  313. 21:03 We paid for blood!
  314. 21:06 Let's tear this place apart!
  315. 21:08 Good idea!
  316. 21:15 Those kids are like so sweet.
  317. 21:20 If only they had had pee-wee hockey when I was a lad.
  318. 21:26 Oh well.
  319. 21:41 Thank you.
  320. 22:26 Shh.
