About the episode

Sent on vacation by Mr. Burns, Smithers picks Homer to fill in, figuring the plant's worst worker is no threat to his job. Fed up with Burns's insults, Homer punches him, and Burns learns to fend for himself, then fires Smithers as unnecessary. Scuffling after a failed scheme to win the job back, Homer and Smithers knock Burns out a window, leaving him dependent on Smithers again.

  43. 2:39 Oh, my God.
  44. 2:48 You should have seen the murderous glint in his eyes, Smithies.
  45. 2:51 And his breath reeked of beer and pretzeled bread.
  46. 2:55 I'm so sorry, Mr. Burns. This was all my fault.
  47. 2:58 Don't concern yourself.
  48. 3:00 If things had turned ugly, I always had my mace.

  51. 3:08 Never, never, never, never, never, never.
  52. 3:20 Good morning, sir.
  53. 3:21 To make up for my failure last night, I alphabetized your breakfast.
  54. 3:24 You can start with the waffles and work your way up to the Zweibach.
  55. 3:28 And to prevent newsprint from rubbing off on your hands, I've laminated today's newspaper.
  56. 3:32 I appreciate the thought, but my pen won't write on this.
  57. 3:35 How am I supposed to do the junior jumble?
  58. 3:38 Oh, I can't even grovel properly. I'm a buffoon.
  59. 3:42 I don't deserve to live on your planet anymore.
  60. 3:52 Pull yourself together, man.
  61. 3:55 I dare say you're in need of a long vacation.
  62. 3:57 No, don't make me take a vacation.
  63. 3:59 Without you, I'll wither and die.
  64. 4:01 That's a risk I'm willing to take.

  66. 4:05 I'm not a baby who needs a nursemaid to burp me.
  67. 4:09 You see?
  68. 4:10 Now, I insist you take a vacation, just as soon as a temporary substitute can be found.
  69. 4:20 I've got to find a replacement who won't outshine me.
  70. 4:24 Perhaps if I search the employee evaluations for the word
  71. 4:28 incompetent.
  72. 4:30 714 names.
  73. 4:31 Better be more specific.
  74. 4:33 Lazy.
  75. 4:36 Clumsy, dim-witted, monstrously ugly.
  76. 4:42 Ah, nuts to this. I'll just go get Homer Simpson.
  77. 4:45 I think Smithers pick me because of my motivational skills.
  78. 4:49 Everyone always says they have to work a lot harder when I'm around.
  79. 4:52 You know, Dad, assisting Mr. Burns could give your career a real shot in the arm.
  80. 4:56 You know, Homer, assisting Mr. Burns could give your career a real shot in the arm.
  81. 5:00 Mom, I just said that.
  82. 5:03 Sorry. Next time get your own darn corn.
  83. 5:06 Um, is this the chair I'll be sitting on?
  84. 5:08 Yeah.
  85. 5:09 Now, I realize caring for Mr. Burns seems like a big job,
  86. 5:11 but actually it's just 2,800 small jobs.
  87. 5:14 Uh-huh. But this is the chair, right? Your new duties will include answering Mr.
  88. 5:18 Burns' phone, preparing his tax return, moistening his eyeballs,
  89. 5:21 assisting with his chewing and swallowing, lying to Congress, and some light typing.
  90. 5:26 Montgomery Burns' office.
  91. 5:27 Oh, hello, Mrs. Burns.
  92. 5:29 I'll see if your son is available. Mr. Burns has a mother?
  93. 5:32 She must be a hundred million years old!
  94. 5:34 She has limited capacities.
  95. 5:36 All she can do is dial and yell.
  96. 5:38 I'm sorry.
  97. 5:39 Marty can't come to the phone right now.
  98. 5:41 He's in a very important meeting and can't be disturbed.
  99. 5:49 Uh-huh.
  100. 5:50 Okay, I'll give him the message.
  101. 5:52 Mr. Burns can't stand talking to his mother.
  102. 5:54 He never forgave her for having that affair with President Taft.
  103. 5:59 Taft, you old dog
  104. 6:03 Really, Smithers?
  105. 6:05 I'll be fine I'm sure your replacement will be able to handle everything Who is he,
  106. 6:10 anyway?
  107. 6:11 Uh, Homer Simpson,
  108. 6:12 sir One of your organ banks from Sector 7G All the recent events of your life have

  111. 6:27 the van's leaving.
  112. 6:28 Which one duty is giving you the most trouble?
  113. 6:31 Um... What do I do in case of fire?
  114. 6:33 Sorry. Can't hear you. Oh,
  115. 6:42 just my luck.
  116. 6:53 Good Lord, Smithers, you look atrocious.
  117. 6:55 I thought I told you to take a vacation.
  118. 6:57 Smithers already left, sir.
  119. 6:58 I'm his replacement, Homer Simpson.
  120. 7:01 Ah, yes, Simpson.
  121. 7:02 I'll have my lunch now. A single pillow of shredded wheat, some steamed toast,
  122. 7:07 and a dodo egg. But I think the dodo went extinct.
  123. 7:10 Get going and answer those phones, install a computer system,
  124. 7:13 and rotate my office so the window faces the hills.
  125. 7:15 Uh-huh, uh-huh.
  126. 7:17 Okay.
  127. 7:18 Um, can you repeat the part of the stuff where you said all about the things?
  128. 7:25 The things?
  129. 7:39 Lousy two-legged pants.
  130. 7:41 Oh, it's 4.30 in the morning.

  135. 8:03 Hmm, one of these must be a breakfast maker.
  136. 8:07 Well, it's my job to cook him breakfast,
  137. 8:10 and I'm gonna cook the best damn breakfast he ever ate.
  138. 8:36 Donuts? I told you I don't like ethnic food.
  139. 8:39 Here, tell me how my stocks did yesterday.
  140. 8:43 Uh, they all won.
  141. 8:46 What about my options?
  142. 8:47 Well, you can either get up or go back to sleep.
  143. 8:49 I believe I'll get up.

  309. 18:55 Perfect.
  310. 18:56 When I give the signal, you transfer the call to Mr.

  327. 19:48 Burns.
  328. 19:49 I just called to say I don't love you.
  329. 19:52 You are a bad son, Montel.
  330. 19:56 So, impersonate my mother, will you?
  331. 20:00 And you, Smithers, you must have put him up to it.
  332. 20:02 I'm glad I fired you.
  333. 20:05 You really blew it this time, Smithers.
