What happens

The scene opens on a grey wall vent with a round grille against a green wall under an orange ceiling, with no one visible, and it stays unchanged for several moments. Inside a classroom, Bart and Milhouse sit among rows of students at wooden desks while Mrs. Krabappel, with her tall brown hairdo, stands at the lower right near a blackboard. A boy with orange hair in a white shirt grins with his eyes shut, then his arms spread as he talks, while the two purple-haired girls in pink sweaters at the front gesture and speak with open mouths, and the vested bully Nelson slouches at the back.
