What happens

Ralph Wiggum, a blond boy in a blue shirt and red-belted pants, kneels in a dig pit with a trowel, and in the first frames he stands and gestures while grinning, then kneels again. Behind him at the edge of the trench, a man in a khaki vest and wide-brimmed hat with a tripod-mounted instrument stands beside a girl in a green cap and red dress, and later a bearded man in a brown fedora and green shirt, a woman with a tall brown hairdo and pink bow blouse, and Lisa in a green cap join them while Bart watches from far off. The mood shifts as the grey-haired man in a green shirt and fedora holds up a pointed metal blade, and the woman with brown hair and glasses, with a pink bow at her collar, looks at it and speaks, while a boy in glasses and a purple cap peers in from below. Sunny blue sky, a yellow sun, string lines across the sandy dig site, and a bulldozed trench wall are visible throughout.
