About the episode

Fresh from a series of small victories helping people get fair treatment, Homer finds proof that Springfield Isotopes owner Howard K. Duff secretly plans to move the team to Albuquerque. 55. 4:36 Excuse me.
  56. 4:46 You sold my little girl a shoddy Eiffel Tower.
  57. 4:49 Hey, tough luck, pal. You can't fight the souvenir industry with too powerful.
  58. 4:53 Yeah, you're right.
  59. 4:58 But before I go, I'm gonna give you a little souvenir of my own.
  60. 5:03 Ah,
  61. 5:07 what the hay.
  62. 5:09 Here you go.
  63. 5:10 Thank you, Dad.
  64. 5:12 Hey, any friend of Marge is a friend of mine.
  65. 5:17 So, how's that new block I gotcha? Great.
  66. 5:22 You know, standing up for the little guy felt good.
  67. 5:25 I'm gonna do it more often.
  68. 5:34 Scram!
  69. 5:35 Those bullies are gone now. You idiot!

  73. 5:50 Well, you're welcome, honey.
  74. 5:53 Now, I'm going to spend a whole day helping schmoes with their problems.
  75. 5:57 Got a problem, Bart? The girl at school won't go to the dance with me.
  76. 6:01 Bart's got a girlfriend.
  77. 6:02 No, I don't. That's the problem.
  78. 6:05 Bart's got a problem.
  79. 6:07 Don't worry, son. I'll handle this.
  80. 6:15 Come on. Why won't you go out with Bart?
  81. 6:18 He's a smelly, ugly dork.
  82. 6:21 Please, ugly is such a smelly word.
  83. 6:24 Who would you rather go out with?
  84. 6:26 Tommy.
  85. 6:30 Well, duh.
  86. 6:31 He's breathtaking.
  87. 6:33 But Bart has inner beauty, like you'd find in a rodent.
  88. 6:40 And face it, you're no prize either.
  89. 6:42 You wear braces, you dress like a kid, and you're not getting any younger.
  90. 6:46 Take what you can get.
  91. 6:48 He's right. Grab something and don't let go.
  92. 6:51 Well, Bart's not so bad.
  93. 6:57 They wouldn't honor my coupon for two free streaks.
  94. 7:01 They wouldn't? Well, I'll go to bat for you, honey.
  95. 7:08 Yes, may I help you? Nice place you got here.
  96. 7:11 Oh, look, a hairnet.
  97. 7:13 Be a shame if it was hurled to the ground.
  98. 7:21 Oh, how clumsy of me.
  99. 7:24 And...
  100. 7:26 Whoops.
  101. 7:27 Why are you doing these things?
  102. 7:29 Either you honor my wife's coupon or a lot more lids will be unscrewed.
  103. 7:33 But I cannot streak that much hair.
  104. 7:36 Think of the cost, I'd be ruined.
  105. 7:38 Oh, really?
  106. 7:40 Boy, you weren't kidding. Your profit margins are razor thin.
  107. 7:45 You see, this is what I'm... Wait a minute.
  108. 7:47 400 a month for loafer lightener?
  109. 7:50 But we must have it. It is the lifeblood of the industry.
  110. 7:56 You get the same results with a mincing gel.
  111. 8:00 But of course.
  112. 8:01 I will save thousands.
  113. 8:03 Thank you.
  114. 8:04 Oh, homie, I love them. I can't thank you enough.
  115. 8:08 The satisfaction of helping another human being is all the thanks I et cetera.
  116. 8:15 And I gave that man directions, even though I didn't know the way,
  117. 8:20 because that's the kind of guy I am this week.
  118. 8:26 Ah!
  119. 8:28 Lousy isotopes. They're a disgrace to baseball.
  120. 8:31 They lost again? Uh-huh.
  121. 8:32 The team's been terrible since they got bought by the cheap, heartless Duff Corporation.
  122. 8:37 Hey, Moe, give me a Duff.
  123. 8:41 Oh, yeah.
  124. 8:43 Sweet Duff.
  125. 8:44 Wait a minute. Duff owns the Springfield Isotopes?
  126. 8:47 Since when? They bought them a year ago from the Mafia.
  127. 8:50 It was the last of the family-owned teams.
  128. 8:52 I tried to return my season ticket, but they wouldn't give me my money back.
  129. 8:56 They said they wanted it.
  130. 8:58 Say no more. I'll help you, Lenny. You want to help me?
  131. 9:02 Oh, haven't you heard? He's the new homer.
  132. 9:04 He's wonderful.
  133. 9:11 I'm trying to get a refund for this ticket.
  134. 9:14 Is this the executive office of the ball club?
  135. 9:16 Nope.
  136. 9:17 This is the equipment shed. Oh.
  137. 9:18 Well, is that it?
  138. 9:21 That's where we keep the water heater. Is?
  139. 9:23 That's a tractor.
  140. 9:24 I see.
  141. 9:26 Sir, we can't give your friend a refund just because the team is losing.
  142. 9:31 I'm sorry to hear that.
  143. 9:34 Spin that back to where it was. Yes, sir.
  144. 9:37 This meeting is over. Okay.
  145. 9:40 So, uh, you want to go get something to eat?
  146. 9:42 No, I don't.
  147. 9:44 Get out of here.
  148. 9:46 No, no, not that door!
  149. 9:54 Albuquerque Isotopes?
  150. 9:55 What is all this stuff?
  151. 9:57 It's not anything.
  152. 9:59 It has no purpose.
  153. 10:02 What a crazy room. There's no Albuquerque Isotopes.
  154. 10:06 It's the Springfield... Oh.
  155. 10:09 No, no, there's no oh.
  156. 10:11 You're moving the team to Albuquerque, aren't you?
  157. 10:14 No, no, we would never abandon our loyal Springfield fans.
  158. 10:18 By the way, all this barging into rooms marked private must have made you thirsty.
  159. 10:23 Would you like a beer? Well, okay.
  160. 10:25 But you can't silence Homer Simpson.
  161. 10:27 I'm the friend of the downtrodden, and I'm not gonna forget what I saw here today.
  162. 10:31 Of course not.
  163. 10:33 Duff Man, could you bring in two bottles of smooth, untainted duff?
  164. 10:38 Oh, yeah!
  165. 10:42 Now, Homer, we've developed this additive that makes beer super, super malty.
  166. 10:48 Care to try?
  167. 10:49 Wait a minute. Will this erase my memory?
  168. 10:52 No, not at all.
  169. 11:00 Man, that is malty. But he'll never know.
  170. 11:10 Good grief. Oh, my head.
  171. 11:14 How long have I been out here? All night, you were yelling at the swing.
  172. 11:18 I was, but I loved the swing.
  173. 11:21 Dad, you were nuts. You know me.
  174. 11:24 Occasionally, I'll be quirky.
  175. 11:27 I'll be quirky.
  176. 11:29 Albuquerque! I'll be right back.
  177. 11:33 Members of the media, thank you for coming.
  178. 11:35 The proof that the isotopes are moving to Albuquerque is right behind this door.
  179. 11:41 Excuse me, Joel Duffman, the Newsly Times.
  180. 11:44 What's with the smear campaign against this beloved brewer?
  181. 11:48 And weren't you once in a loony bin?
  182. 11:52 Oh yeah.
  183. 11:53 He's right, folks.
  184. 11:54 The only story here is the rich, smooth taste of duff.
  185. 11:59 Yes, that is an important story. But so is this!
  186. 12:06 Well, I think I know tomorrow's headline.
  187. 12:08 Local man is liar. That is a good headline.
  188. 12:15 So, let me get this straight, Mr. Duff. The isotopes are not moving to Albuquerque?
  189. 12:20 Absolutely not.
  190. 12:21 So, are you calling Homer Simpson a liar?
  191. 12:25 Well, we have obtained this footage of him with his pants on fire.
  192. 12:31 Well, homie, I believe you're telling the truth about the isotopes.
  193. 12:35 I don't mind being called a liar when I'm lying, or about to lie, or just finish lying.
  194. 12:41 But not when I'm telling the truth!
  195. 12:45 Yeah, but what can you do?
  196. 12:47 There's all kinds of ways to get the public on your side.
  197. 12:50 Bob Dylan wrote songs, Cesar Chavez staged hunger strikes.
  198. 12:54 That's it! I'll go on a hunger strike!
  199. 12:58 Only you couldn't keep up a hunger strike.
  200. 13:01 You eat while you brush your teeth.
  201. 13:03 You're eating a huge sausage right now.
  202. 13:07 So, I can stop and I will stop.
  203. 13:10 I'm on a hunger strike starting right now.
  204. 13:28 Mwah!
  205. 13:36 Let's see those double-A baseball honchos ignore this.
  206. 13:39 You're really not gonna eat anything?
  207. 13:41 My hunger strike will not end until Duff admits they're moving the team.
  208. 13:46 Bart my chains.
  209. 13:51 Now it begins.
  210. 13:53 Dad, I'm so proud of you. If you need some inspiration,
  211. 13:56 here's a book of Mike Farrell's core beliefs.
  212. 14:02 Man, he really hates Wayne Rogers.
  213. 14:06 Goodbye, homie.
  214. 14:07 Here's Dr. Hibbert's number if you feel weak.
  215. 14:10 Don't worry.
  216. 14:11 Duff's not gonna let me waste away to nothing.
  217. 14:14 Uh, Dad?
  218. 14:18 Go?
  219. 14:21 What a great ball game. Thanks, Weekend Dad.
  220. 14:24 Stop calling me that. Hey, kid and man, don't support a team run by liars.
  221. 14:30 Liars?
  222. 14:31 They're secretly planning to move to Albuquerque.
  223. 14:33 That's crazy!
  224. 14:34 It would have been on a talk radio show like Sports Chat or SportsZilla and the
  225. 14:39 Jabberjocks. Yeah!
  226. 14:41 You little...
  227. 14:45 Oh, so hungry.
  228. 14:47 Can't give up.
  229. 14:49 Must continue fighting evil corporation.
  230. 14:54 Oh, Seymour, you shouldn't have. It's gonna go straight to my thighs.
  231. 14:58 Well, it just might have some company.
  232. 15:01 Oh, Seymour.
  233. 15:07 Nice try, God.
  234. 15:10 But Homer Simpson doesn't give in to temptation that easily.
  235. 15:13 Hey!
  236. 15:15 Stop that!
  237. 15:22 There's still more meatloaf.
  238. 15:24 Oh, that's impossible.
  239. 15:26 Come on, come on. We all have to pitch in and eat your father's share.
  240. 15:30 Why don't you just cook less?
  241. 15:33 I don't do things that way, Lisa.
  242. 15:35 Danting away my hunger pangs.
  243. 15:39 Moving my feet so my stomach won't hurt.
  244. 15:42 I'm kind of like Jesus,
  245. 15:45 but not in a sacrilegious way.
  246. 15:48 Geez, Homer's losing it already.
  247. 15:50 Yeah, but his weary shuffling makes my heart smile.
  248. 15:54 Oh, I'm so hungry.
  249. 15:59 His tummy sounds angry, Daddy.
  250. 16:02 Yeah, that's his stomach eating itself.
  251. 16:05 It's such a beautiful day.
  252. 16:07 Where are the crowds?
  253. 16:08 Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem.
  254. 16:56 What's going on? What am I doing here?
  255. 16:58 Order of Mr. Duff, and word to the wise, if someone hits a home run,
  256. 17:01 the fireworks come out here and here.
  257. 17:05 Gotta go!
  258. 17:10 Folks, it's time to meet a real superfan, Hungry Hungry Homer.
  259. 17:16 He's on a hunger strike till the Topes win the pennant.
  260. 17:22 What?
  261. 17:23 It's not why I'm here.
  262. 17:25 They're moving the team to Albuquerque.
  263. 17:28 Hear that, folks?
  264. 17:29 He said go Topes.
  265. 17:34 All this hunger for nothing.
  266. 17:36 Get your hot dogs.
  267. 17:37 Fat, juicy hot dogs. Hawk chops and applesauce.
  268. 17:41 Peking duck. Get your crispy Peking duck.
  269. 17:44 Yeah, duck man, over here.
  270. 17:47 Mmm.
  271. 17:50 Oh, oh, yeah.
  272. 17:55 Did I have to chew so loud?
  273. 18:00 I'm wasting away.
  274. 18:02 I'm down to a B cup.
  275. 18:04 It's been a whole week.
  276. 18:06 Why are you letting my husband die?
  277. 18:09 What does it have to do with baseball?
  278. 18:10 Death is a part of baseball.
  279. 18:12 Oh, yeah, the main part.
  280. 18:14 Guys, we won't let any harm come to your husband, Mrs.
  281. 18:18 Simpson. He'll be fine.
  282. 18:19 He's not moving.
  283. 18:22 He's probably resting from all the moving he did before you got here.
  284. 18:26 He'll start moving in a second.
  285. 18:28 I'm sure of it.
  286. 18:29 Turn on the sprinklers.
  287. 18:34 You see there? He's fine.
  288. 18:36 Ooh, look at him go.
  289. 18:40 Oh, I'm so hungry.
  290. 18:43 Why keep starving myself?
  291. 18:45 No one cares.
  292. 18:51 Who are you?
  293. 18:53 The spirit of Cesar Chavez.
  294. 18:55 Why do you look like Cesar Romero?
  295. 18:57 Because you don't know what Cesar Chavez looks like.
  296. 18:59 Why are you here? to tell you not to give up.
  297. 19:02 Oh, but I wanna... He's talking to himself, sir.
  298. 19:06 And his smell is distracting the center fielder.
  299. 19:09 Yeah, this is getting sad.
  300. 19:11 Let's bring him in.
  301. 19:13 Okay, Skinny, on your feet. What's happening?
  302. 19:17 Did I crush your corporation?
  303. 19:19 No, you're being replaced.
  304. 19:24 And now, taking over for hungry, hungry Homer,
  305. 19:27 Let's welcome Paige drinking tea!
  306. 19:39 Well, Homer, your hunger strike lasted 12 amazing days.
  307. 19:45 Oh, me so hungry.
  308. 19:47 Of course you are, hungry, hungry Homer.
  309. 19:50 So why not break your fast with our brand new isotope dog supreme?
  310. 19:57 So hard to resist.
  311. 19:59 Mesquite grilled onions.
  312. 20:02 Jalapeno relish.
  313. 20:04 Wait a minute.
  314. 20:05 Those are Southwestern ingredients!
  315. 20:10 Mango, lime, salsa?
  316. 20:13 That's the kind of bold flavor they enjoy in...
  317. 20:17 Albuquerque!
  318. 20:18 He's right!
  319. 20:20 Yeah, and a rapper says Albuquerque Isotopes.
  320. 20:23 Omar was right.
  321. 20:25 They're planning to move the team.
  322. 20:29 Now, see here, people. Let's not be too hasty.
  323. 20:32 Tell the truth!
  324. 20:33 Come on, everybody!
  325. 20:34 Tell the truth! Tell the truth!
  326. 20:37 Get him out of here!
  327. 20:39 Don't listen to him, Duff Man. For once in your life, stand up for the little guy.
  328. 20:46 New feelings brewing in Duff Man.
  329. 20:49 What would Jesus do?
  330. 20:51 Hey!
  331. 20:52 Whoa!
  332. 20:54 Whoa! Oh, yeah! Ha!
  333. 20:57 Ha! Ha!

  338. 21:12 Way to go, Slim!
  339. 21:21 Damn, that town's got too much spirit.
  340. 21:24 Looks like we'll have to steal some other baseball team.
  341. 21:27 See what Dallas wants for the Cowboys.
  342. 21:29 Uh, that's a football team, sir.
  343. 21:31 They'll play what I tell them to play.
  344. 21:34 For I am the mayor of Albuquerque.
  345. 22:24 Shh.
