What happens

Homer, bald and wearing a white tank top, sits with three companions in red scout-style hats and neckerchiefs on an orange inflatable raft on open blue water. He grips two wooden paddles and grins, then clasps his hands behind his head while the others look on with worried expressions, and the raft drifts. Later, Homer sits with his back to us, one hand on his neck, as the brown mountainous shoreline shrinks and fades into a flat horizon over the teal sea.
