What happens

Homer, in a white shirt, and Principal Skinner, in a grey suit with neat grey hair, stand beside an orange station wagon outside the Springfield Elementary School entrance while a crowd of townspeople and kids gathers around them. Homer steps out of the car, then raises one arm and talks as Skinner stands beside him, later with an arm resting on Skinner's shoulder, and the crowd watches them, including a red-bearded man, a grey-haired woman, and a policeman in a cap at the right. The school's sign reads "Springfield Elementary School," and an American flag flies on a pole at the left.
