Homer Simpson rides atop a Springfield garbage truck through a parade on a city street, with the crowd lined along the sidewalks behind him

What happens

Homer Simpson, in a white sanitation worker's uniform with gold epaulettes and a captain-style cap, rides atop a Springfield garbage truck through a parade on a city street, with the crowd lined along the sidewalks behind him. Earlier, sanitation workers in matching white uniforms run alongside a dark limousine carrying Mr. Burns's entourage and cheering, sunglasses-wearing celebrities, while Chief Wiggum-style crowds wave and cheer. The truck's side reads SPRINGFIELD, and the final frames show Homer standing on a giant spinning Earth globe covered in litter and green slime, arms flung wide against a blue sky with buildings on either side. Homer's arms are outstretched in a triumphant pose as the globe passes down the street.
